How Important is a DJ/Live Music on a Wedding Day?
We have all heard it "Just hook up an ipod and some speakers for the reception". So why invest in a good DJ?
I've been there done that our wedding 4 years ago the first vendor on the chopping block in terms of budget was a DJ. I had a family member with some equipment that did our music. It was completely free and I couldn't complain, but looking back I would have invested more on a well seasoned professional. I didn't think it would be big deal but it was there was little to no dancing and I adore dancing! Guests left early and the day ended with a sigh of disappointment.
A DJ or live music artist isn't just a dude that plays music. He works the crowd he knows his craft. DJs can make or break weddings. I have shot many weddings and almost every single time without fail when a couple cheap out on their DJ they can pay the ultimate price..... It can ruin your reception. I've seen brides cry, guests get mad, and reception activities just altogether stop moving forward.
On the flip side brides that have invested a bit in fantastic DJs or live bands have always had fantastic weddings. They literally have a gift to change the entire mood of a stressed out bride and groom to the happiest couple there ever was! My biggest piece of advice to brides is this when cutting your budget cut out the fancy decor and invest in your vendors!
